The Galatea had a nickname which was 'The Black Pig', I was never too sure where that came from but everyone used it.  I served 27 months on board this ship as a leading hand.  My Petty Officer was a drunk so I basically had to run the galley myself.  I did not mind that as it helped the time go by.
